Another Wednesday Welcome in Wilnecote

Places of Welcome

Wilnecote is already a very welcoming place, with a regular Places of Welcome drop in happening every Wednesday morning at the Library(based in the grounds of the Wilnecote School).  Now local residents also have somewhere to go on a Wednesday afternoon for a cuppa, a chat and some support if needed.

Health and Wellbeing event in Brereton 29th September

Brereton Million are launching a Health & Wellbeing Campaign!

After spending a lot of volunteer hours, resources and money on Ravenhill Park we have successfully fitted a brand new Play park.

We are about to complete refurbishing the running track, adding an outdoor gym and a nature walk. Adding on to this we were looking for ways to group this together, which would fit with our other work and our priorities.

Engagement starts on services formerly at the George Bryan Centre

On 12th February 2019, a fire destroyed the west wing of the George Bryan Centre. It provided an assessment, care and treatment service for working age adults who are in an acute state of mental illness and a mental health assessment service for people aged over 65.

Temporary arrangements have been in place since the fire and MPFT would like to design permanent solutions. An engagement exercise is underway for people living in Tamworth, Lichfield and Burton to discuss how best to create outstanding services.

Volunteers needed to support older people in Rugeley

Michelle Cliff (Locality Officer for Cannock Chase) enjoyed a visit at St Pauls church hall in Rugeley to meet the volunteers and members of a lunch group run by MHA Lichfield & District Live at Home 

This weekly group can accommodate up to 25 people for lunch and social activities, the members look forward to the get together’s and enjoy seeing the friends they have made.

Village Hall Improvements Grant

In the first round, ACRE received 22 applications from eligible UK organisations to apply for funding from the Village Hall improvement Grant.

Background

This grant follows the Autumn 2018 budget which announced: to mark the centenary of the Armistice, government would support several initiatives, including making available grant funding to support improvement projects for village halls.

This is in recognition of the important role that village halls play in underpinning local community life.

Citizens Advice celebrates its 80th Anniversary

Citizens Advice celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, starting in 1939, following the outbreak of the Second World War.

Citizens Advice Staffordshire South West (CASSW) was one of the first local bureaux to open, its first office opened in Tipping Street, Stafford in November 1939 and the service across Staffordshire has been available to people in our local communities for 80 years.

Early Interventions, Supporting Victims and witnesses, Creating Public Confidence 

As part of his commitment to local communities, Matthew Ellis, Staffordshire Commissioner, is providing (through a bidding process) £300,000 for the current financial year in the form of the People Power Fund. In line with the priorities of the Commissioner’s Safer, Fairer, United Communities Strategy and the local Community Safety priorities, this money is available to improve community safety, reduce crime and disorder and increase public confidence.

European Social Fund (ESF)

European Social Fund (ESF) Community Grants are financed through the European Union and are designed to develop the capacity of the community and to meet local needs. Part of this strategy is to help people increase their chances of finding work. Applications are open to organisations based or working within the county of Staffordshire.
