South Staffs Water Biodiversity Improvement Grant - PEBBLE

PEBBLE is the biodiversity improvement fund from South Staffs Water.

Funding of up to £10,000 is available for community projects within our supply area that create, restore or improve habitat.

Three levels of funding ranging from £500 to £10,000 is available to organisations keen to enhance biodiversity within the South Staffs Water area of supply.

Coalfields Community Investment Programme (England) now reopened for new enquiries

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the 5.5 million people living in Britain’s former mining communities. Many of these communities still require support due to the huge impact the closure of the mines had upon them.

THE FIRST PLACE OF WELCOME IN RUGELEY

St Augustine's Church has joined the national Places of Welcome network, making this the first Place of Welcome in Rugeley (and the 49th in the county). The church is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 11am and 2pm. Everybody is welcome to come along to have a free cuppa, a chat and make new friendships. There is no charge for the refreshments.  It is a very friendly group run by volunteers who are pleased to be able to support the local community. Huge funding boost for the Red Lion House Charity

Red Lion House; old pub to new community centre.

Work should restart at the beginning of July to convert the former Red Lion pub into a new community centre. The pub, on the corner of Rolleston Road and Horninglow Road North is believed to be Marston’s first pub, and their first brewery was across the road. The pub closed some years ago and was bought at auction to be converted into a local community centre by a new charity set up for the purpose.

Support Staffordshire’s Armed Forces Community

Staffordshire County Council is inviting you to join us in supporting our Armed Forces Community. The County Council will be holding a number of events in the run up to Armed Forces Day on 29th June. Armed Forces Day provides an opportunity for the nation to show their support to the Armed Forces Community (serving regular and reserve personnel, veterans, and their families), and also raises public awareness of the contribution and sacrifices made by the armed forces.

Rural Development Fund

New Grant Alert!

The Rural Development Fund awards small grants of up to £1000 to small rural community groups across Staffordshire and Stoke, where they have a specific need.

The main beneficiaries of this fund are small community and voluntary groups in Staffordshire and Stoke, where their income is less than £30,000 per annum. The groups must be based or working in Staffordshire or Stoke and cannot be operating outside of the county. The aims of the project should be working towards the encouragement and promotion of developing rural community life.

Erasmus Darwin Herb Garden

A great chance to meet the gardeners and learn about the historic collection of herbs in this city centre garden, a hidden oasis of peace and calm, surrounded by medieval buildings just behind the Cathedral Close in Lichfield.

Composed of a number of linked but distinct areas: the Culinary Garden, Darwin’s Medicine Chest, the Dyer’s garden and the Scented Garden, each bed tells the story of various aspects of 18th century life, both domestic and medical, as experienced by this important Lichfield household.
