Macmillan Health and Wellbeing Days

Macmillan Cancer Support are holding Health and Wellbeing Days at Pride Park stadium in Derby and Pirelli Stadium in Burton on Trent. The days in June, September and December are for anyone affected by cancer and will include sessions on Mindfulness, financial/benefits and healthy lifestyles.

Lichfield District Safer Community Partnership - Small Projects Fund

The Small Projects Fund is a small grants scheme offered by the Lichfield District Safer Community Partnership with funding from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.  We are looking to fund small scale projects which help support the delivery of our Community Safety Delivery Plan.  Projects should promote community involvement, develop stronger communities and demonstrate a problem solving approach to reducing crime and disorder and the fear of crime.

European Social Fund Community Grants

European Social Fund (ESF) Community Grants are financed through the European Union and are designed to develop the capacity of the community and to meet local needs.  Part of this strategy is to help people increase their chances of finding work.

Applications are open to organisations based or working within the county of Staffordshire.

Grants of up to £20,000 are available.

Staffordshire Dignity in Care Awards 2019. Nominations deadline extended!

Closing date for nominations has been extended to 24th May 2019.  Those who are shortlisted will be invited to the celebration event on Wednesday 10th July 2019 where winners will be announced and presented with their prize.

Do you know someone who makes a difference? Do you know someone who stands out and acts as an example to others?

Then nominate them for a Staffordshire Dignity in Care Award 2019.

CQC have recognised the Awards in some of their reports of Outstanding Staffordshire Care Providers.

Carers' Strategy Engagement

Staffordshire County Council and the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups in Staffordshire have put together a draft strategy for carers, which sets out our priorities. We would like to hear from carers and professionals what they think of the proposed strategy, and if there is anything else we need to consider.

Rural Economy Inquiry Report Supports the Call for a Rural Strategy

The Rural Economy inquiry report was published on 27 April 2019, in it the Committee have called for a comprehensive national-level rural economic strategy, to be delivered locally via communities, councils and businesses.

The House of Lords Select Committee on the Rural Economy was appointed on 17 May 2018 to consider the rural economy, and while there have been studies of particular aspects of the rural economy, such as agriculture, and digital connectivity, the ad hoc inquiry sought to bring these issues together, considering the rural economy as a whole.

Beacon Centre for the Blind - Making a visible difference for people with sight loss

Beacon has officially reopened the VI Hub in Hanley – previously known as RNIB Resource Centre – and is hosting a Drop-in session.

We want to invite you to come along and celebrate and see our new look Hub at Albion Street, Hanley on Wednesday 1st May from 1pm. We will be providing free tea and cheesy oatcakes in honour of Staffordshire Day.
