Staffordshire Community Learning Trust Responsiveness Fund

The Staffordshire Community Learning Trust Responsiveness Fund (CLTRF) offers local grants for the delivery of adult learning programmes which address the identified needs of local communities. The CLTRF is funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

The funding is for the delivery of education and training for adults returning to learning (aged 19+ as of 31st August 2019).

People Helping People Fund

Despite dramatically reduced funding which means that Staffordshire County Council cannot do everything it once did, or would like to do, we can still make Staffordshire a great place to live and work. This means the county council and all of our communities need to work together differently, where the county council continues to focus on fulfilling its legal obligations and supporting the most vulnerable people in our communities, and communities do more for themselves and others.

New Transport Scheme launches in the Staffordshire Moorlands

A newly established voluntary and community transport scheme is now up and running in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Moorlands Voluntary and Community Transport (MVCT) was set up following funding cuts from the County Council which meant that Support Staffordshire were unable to continue to run the schemes. Over 60 volunteers give their time helping those who are struggling to access appointments, meet friends and attend activities; most of the people who use the schemes are some of the most vulnerable members of our local community, often older, frail and isolated.

Uttoxeter: A very welcoming place.

Places of Welcome is a UK wide project, which aims to ensure that every neighbourhood has places where people may go to connect and contribute in a safe environment.  Over the past few months, Uttoxeter has been adding numerous places to this welcoming network, and recently the volunteers who help make this happen were able to come together for a chat over a cuppa and a cake of their own.

Places of Welcome is a growing network of local community groups providing their neighbourhoods with places where all people feel safe to belong, connect and contribute. Anybody can pop along to their local Place of Welcome and will be guaranteed a warm welcome, free hospitality and the opportunity to make friends in the local community.

FREE WALKING NETBALL SESSIONS FOR THE OVER 50'S IN TAMWORTH

Free weekly walking netball sessions are starting in Tamworth.

The sessions will include a warm-up, ball skills practice and non-competitive game. It is aimed at anyone around 50 plus. All abilities and fitness levels are welcome – it doesn’t even matter if you have never played netball before. It is a great way to keep fit, have fun and socialise.

The sessions will start on Tuesday 23rd July. They will take place every Tuesday evening 6.30-7.30pm in the sports hall at Landau Forte Academy Amington and run by qualified netball coaches.
