Letter From Roger Savage, Secretary, Adbaston Community Concert Society.


It is with great sadness that I write to you today on behalf of the Chairman and Committee to let you know that our President, Audrey Newsome, died earlier this week at the age of 91.

It was Audrey, with her friend Jenny Muddimer, who had the idea of running concerts in Adbaston church for the local community.

Coronavirus Crisis Fund – Prepayment Meter Vouchers

To support those who are suffering hardship as a result of the Coronavirus crisis, Marches Energy Agency secured funding for £49 prepayment vouchers. Applicants will be offered energy advice to help prevent future crisis.

Artistic school-girl raises money for local Charity

A creative Year 7 pupil from John Taylor Free School in Branston called Lizzie has been raising money for YMCA Burton by making and selling bright and beautiful cards for her friends, family and neighbours.

Lizzie Hasdell first became interested in the work of YMCA Burton  after her mum donated food to their foodbank via the Burton Belles W.I group. After learning about the volume of people who use the foodbank, Lizzie decided to use her lockdown period to help.

If you're contacted by the NHS Test and Trace service, you will NOT be asked to provide any passwords, bank account details or pin numbers.  If in doubt hang up the phone! 

‘Good morning, I'm calling from the NHS track and trace service. According to our system, you are likely to have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This means that you now need to self-isolate for 7 days and take a COVID-19 test.'

'OK. Can you tell me who that person was?'

Shielding Changes

Clinical guidance explainer

The UK Government has set out a roadmap for the clinically extremely vulnerable on the future of the shielding programme.

For now, the guidance remains the same – stay at home and only go outside to exercise or to spend time outdoors with a member of your household, or with one other person from another household if you live alone – but the guidance will change on 6 July and again on 1 August , subject to clinical evidence.

Shielding and other advice to the clinically extremely vulnerable has been and remains advisory.
