The document is intended to provide further details about the government’s proposed plan to ease the lockdown and rebuild the economy and society as we get through the worst of the pandemic.

Once again this week we have seen lots of developments nationally in the fight against coronavirus. The NHS Test and Trace service went live on 28 May. The Test and Trace service will help identify, contain, and control coronavirus, reducing the spread and saving lives.

East Staffordshire Local Authority Discretionary Grant Fund

East Staffordshire Borough Council logo

East Staffordshire Borough Council has announced the launch of its Local Authority Discretionary Grant Fund. The Discretionary Grant Fund will enable the Council to continue to support small businesses in East Staffordshire during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Government is making additional funding available to allow the Council to further support Small Businesses. The Discretionary Grant Fund, totalling £1.19m, is in addition to the Small Business Grants Funds and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants Fund which are already available to businesses.

Pharmacy Support in Cheadle

During the current pandemic, the demand on local pharmacies has been huge, particularly in the early days. Recognising this, Staffordshire County Council asked Support Staffordshire to identify local voluntary and community groups which would be able to help out specific pharmacies where they needed volunteers to take medication to people’s homes or to help support people queueing outside their shops.

Housing Plus Group COVID 19 Grant

Smallwood Trust Community Grant Partnerships – Fund now open Closing date 19th June 2020

We are looking to fund a range of specialist women’s organisations and services to become Smallwood Trust Community Grant Partners. Organisations will be able to use the funds to provide small cash grants (up to £1,000) for individual women to help them overcome personal and financial barriers, helping them to make changes in their lives. We will also fund up to 20% management costs to run the programme.

Independent Age - £5-15k grants to help older people hardest hit by Covid-19

Independent Age have flagged a new grants scheme to us that I'm sure will be of interest to ACRE Network members.

Grants of between £5-15k are being made to charities to step up their work with older people in response to Covid-19 over the next 6 months.  You must already be helping older people living in particularly complex and challenging situations or older people in danger of being out of sight and out of mind.

Applications must be received by 4 June for the first round of funding

Coronavirus Community Support Fund

We’re delighted to confirm that the Government’s new Coronavirus Community Support Fund will open for applications at 10am on Friday 22nd May.

This new funding stream makes available £200m in Government funding that will be aimed primarily at small to medium organisations in England.

The Fund has two key objectives:

To increase community support to vulnerable people affected by the COVID-19 crisis, through the work of civil society organisations.
