We are delighted to report that the sector elected Jill Norman, Operations Manager North and our strategic lead for Enterprise and Skills to be the Voluntary and Community Sector Representative on the Stoke and Staffordshire LEP committee for European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF). Jill received the overwhelming support of the sector with 84% of the vote.
The ESIF Committee is responsible for the strategic oversight of local investments of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Social Fund (ESF) and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and their operational delivery. The EU funding is worth over £140 Million to Stoke and Staffordshire up to 2020 and the first calls are out now: www.gov.uk/european-structural-investment-funds.
Support Staffordshire is currently working with colleagues at Staffordshire Community Foundation, Staffordshire Council for Voluntary Youth Service and Engaging Communities to form a local sector consortium. The ‘Team Staffordshire Consortium’ will bid to the Building Better Opportunities Fund which is an ESF and Big Lottery funded programme seeking to support those furthest from employability due to a range of social and economic barriers. We know the VCSE sector is perfectly placed to reach out to such communities and individuals and the consortium will be issuing a Call to Express Your Interest in helping deliver on the programme over the next few weeks. This model of funding is very new and therefore subject to lots of change as we go along. Please bear with us as we try to navigate the bureaucracy for you and rest assured when the time is right we’ll be making sure you are involved.
Jill will be providing regular updates can also raise issues on behalf of the sector. She can be contacted on email@example.com.
