Part of the solution is for more people to make lifestyle choices that will enable them to stay healthy and well for longer to help reduce the demand that our services are seeing.

Possible new grant scheme for enhancing the natural environment

Is your organisation considering a project that could enhance the natural environment in an urban part of Staffordshire?

If so, we would like to hear from you.

Support Staffordshire and Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, with Staffordshire Community Foundation, Staffordshire County Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council, are exploring the potential for submitting a bid for European funding which would be a grant fund for voluntary and community groups as well as town or district councils.

Smallwood Trust Funding opportunity

Women’s groups based in the Midlands are invited to apply for seed funding to trial and test new ideas and imaginative approaches to support women along the employability pathway. The Women First Innovation Fund is open to charities, social enterprises and other non-profit organisations who have ideas or projects that support our mission of enabling women to become financially resilient.

Organisations can apply for grants of £5,000 to £10,000. We expect to award 10-15 grants in this round.

Services Best Delivered Locally - Report by Locality says

Commissioning local community organisations to deliver services boosts local economies, Locality found in its Powerful Communities, Strong Economies report.

The pilot study found that together 10 local community organisations enabled approximately 1,400 jobs and £120m of gross value to be added to the local economy.

Are you Ready for GDPR?

As many of you will be aware new data protection laws are coming with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) taking effect from 25 May 2018.

Your organisation should already be compliant with the existing Data Protection Act 1998 legislation and the GDPR builds on this.  Many of you will have attended the information sessions delivered by The Community Foundation earlier on this year that provided useful guidance on preparing for GDPR

A rewarding hand in your local community?

Volunteering with Dougie Mac can be very rewarding. Our Independent Living and Buddies Patient support would like you to help patients in their homes. A listening ear and a lending hand to their worries or concerns, or maybe a hand with some shopping or gardening, or perhaps a hand massage to help with relaxation. Full training will be given and a volunteer will be matched with a specific patient. Please call to hear more about these roles.

Employment Support Pilot Opportunity for Funding- Tamworth and Cannock

The West Midlands Combined Authority are delighted to announce that the Employment Support Pilot funding opportunity is now live.

The Employment Support Pilot is a 3 year programme scheduled to commence in June 2018 aimed at tackling unemployment and low pay within local communities.

The intention is to support individuals to engage with targeted employability support, to raise aspirations within the community, and support individuals to transition into sustainable employment.
