National Memorial Arboretum February 2021 Update

The grounds of the National Memorial Arboretum are currently open to pre-booked visitors from the local area for exercise between 10am and 4pm each day. We ask that all visitors continue to observe all government guidelines and restrictions relating to travel before making a journey to us.

Together We're Better Stakeholder Update - 5th February

As many of you will know, Together We’re Better is one of many Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs) across the country. It is a partnership of NHS and local authority, working alongside the voluntary and third sector to improve local health and care services. There is a national mandate for STPs to evolve into Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) by April 2021.

MHA Communities Lichfield and MHA Communities Burntwood Merge

MHA Communities Lichfield & MHA Communities Burntwood, formally Live at Home, merged on 01 Feb 2021 to create MHA Communities South Staffs.

There will be a transitional period as we update key contacts such as yourselves and complete some practical aspects but we anticipate the merger, including an office move for the existing Lichfield scheme into a shared office at the Old Mining College in Burntwood, to be completed as of 01 April 2021.

Rainforests and Zoos

We often hear about the fragility of natural habitats or ecosystems, such as rainforests, which gives us the impression that by comparison to our man made world, these wild places are some how sub-standard, teetering on a precipice, where at any moment they could collapse. Sometimes the motivation for such descriptions comes from those who probably should know better, those who are actually trying to shock us into action to support these places, or at least to give money to their organisation in the name of ‘saving the rainforest’.

State of the Sector Report 2021

The report shows the local sector has a turnover of more than £112M, employs almost 8,000 people, and engages over 50,000 volunteers worth another £90M.

Rebalancing the relationship: Final report

A new report from NCVO, ACEVO and Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales highlights ways in which larger and smaller voluntary organisations can support each other in the competitive commissioning environment and collaborate to achieve greater impact for the communities they serve.

Rebalancing the Relationship is the result of an 18-month research project that collected evidence of good and bad collaborative practice from over 200 larger and smaller charities.

Team Staffordshire seek VCSE/Parliamentary forum from local MP's

As many members will know we have been in dialogue with local MPs about improving the relationship between our elected representatives and the local VCSE sector. Following local discussion through Team Staffordshire, we have recently submitted the attached letter calling on our MPs to help us to establish a long term dialogue with them to address the many and varied issues of the sector and communities more widely.

Together We're Better shadow Integrated Care System (ICS) update

In the midst of the COVID-19 response, an important vote has taken place which will help to shape how the health and care system will work over the coming months. Colleagues in General Practice have voted to support the formation of a single Strategic Commissioning Organisation across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. After months of discussions and a week of voting, the vote closed last night. I would like to congratulate all colleagues that have worked or contributed to this; and to our GP colleagues for helping to shape the future direction of travel.

East Staffordshire - New Patient Helpline

From the 1st February 2021 a new patient helpline will be available open to all patients in East staffordshire's 18 GP Pratices. The line will be open from  09:30 - 19:00 although they can't discuss specific illnesses, or give medical advice, if they don't know the answer they will find out and call you back, so give them a call on 07359021283.
