Karl Wilding Chief Exec Leaving NCVO

Karl Wilding will leave NCVO at the end of March after 18 months as chief executive. He was appointed as chief executive in June 2019, and took up the role that autumn. Sarah Vibert, director of membership and engagement, has been appointed as interim chief executive. 

Karl, who has worked at NCVO for 23 years, said in a statement that new leadership was needed to "to lead the necessary cultural change NCVO is determined, rightly, to achieve". He added that he was sad to be leaving, but confident that NCVO is "in safe hands".

Windrush Day Grant Scheme

Application deadline: 10 March 2021

Grants are available for local authorities, charities and community groups in England to celebrate, commemorate and/or educate about the history of the MV Empire Windrush and the contribution of the Windrush Generation to British economic, social and cultural life.

Grants of between £2,500 and £25,000 are available.

Bidders seeking funding below £2,500 should contact their local authority to request inclusion in a larger bid.

The funding is for activities that will be completed by 31 December 2021.

Hilden Charitable Fund

Application deadline: 16 April 2021

Grants for UK charities working in the areas of homelessness, penal affairs, asylum seekers and refugees, community based initiatives for disadvantaged young people (16-25), and projects in developing countries working on community development, education, and health (with particular interest in projects that address the needs and potential of girls and women).

Although there are no set funding limits, the average grant is £5,000, and Hilden will consider funding projects for more than one year.

Big Society Capital - Ideas for Impact

Development funding and related support is available to charities, social enterprises and fund managers in the United Kingdom with ideas for how social impact investment can have a transformative impact on a social issue.

The Ideas for Impact development fund has a total budget of £150,000.

Successful applicants will receive development funding of between £15,000 and £30,000 (inclusive of VAT) for their project, depending on its stage of development.

NORTH STAFFS: Drivers Required for "virtual" Lunch Club

North Staffs Live at Home Service have a new volunteering opportunity for drivers based near Tunstall or Biddulph (or who are happy to drive in these areas).

The opportunity is for a "virtual" lunch club, where instead of diners coming to a central place once a week, the food travels to them. 

In short, the job involves picking up three to four meals from a central hub and delivering them safely to local residents.
