Team Staffordshire seek VCSE/Parliamentary forum from local MP's

As many members will know we have been in dialogue with local MPs about improving the relationship between our elected representatives and the local VCSE sector. Following local discussion through Team Staffordshire, we have recently submitted the attached letter calling on our MPs to help us to establish a long term dialogue with them to address the many and varied issues of the sector and communities more widely.

Together We're Better shadow Integrated Care System (ICS) update

In the midst of the COVID-19 response, an important vote has taken place which will help to shape how the health and care system will work over the coming months. Colleagues in General Practice have voted to support the formation of a single Strategic Commissioning Organisation across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. After months of discussions and a week of voting, the vote closed last night. I would like to congratulate all colleagues that have worked or contributed to this; and to our GP colleagues for helping to shape the future direction of travel.

East Staffordshire - New Patient Helpline

From the 1st February 2021 a new patient helpline will be available open to all patients in East staffordshire's 18 GP Pratices. The line will be open from  09:30 - 19:00 although they can't discuss specific illnesses, or give medical advice, if they don't know the answer they will find out and call you back, so give them a call on 07359021283.

Coalfields Recovery and Resilience Fund

Application deadline: The eligibility survey closes on 12th March 2021 at 5pm, The deadline for applications is 26 March 2021 at 5pm.

We are offering awards of up to £10,000 that can address local needs in coalfield communities.

Priority will be given to organisations that are delivering support services or have significantly adapted their services  in order to respond to the current issues/challenges in their community and support vulnerable people.

We also continue to offer free Practical Support for registered organisations in coalfield areas.

VAST receive National Lottery funding

VAST are delighted to announce that our Totally Stoked project been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for a further three-years. This means that the project will now be able to expand beyond the boundaries of Stoke-on-Trent to support charities and community organisations across North Staffordshire to build their capacity to deliver services in the face of increasing demand from many areas.

Your Family Hub Assistance Grant

We don’t want anyone to go hungry in Staffordshire as a result of COVID-19. Our District Family Hubs are helping to support individuals and families who need food and essential supplies as well as providing ongoing information, advice, guidance and support around local support for children and families, in response to COVID-19.

Great Response to COVID-19 Vaccination Volunteer Recruitment

The COVID-19 vaccinaton programme that is working hard to protect everyone is heavily reliant on volunteers in order to meet government targets. So it's great to know that the people of Tamworth have stepped forward, volunteering their time and exposing themselves to potential risk, to fill the vacancies at the Coton Centre where vaccinations are taking place.

Together We're Better Update: January 29th

The UK has now passed the grim milestone of 100,000 COVID-19 related deaths, which is amongst the highest death tolls in Europe. Particularly moving have been the stories of those lost at the front line. This includes those who volunteered to return to the frontline, whether that be A&E, ITU, a COVID ward and died as a result. There’s also the long tale of those seriously damaged by COVID-19, many with a long road to recovery, some who will never fully recover at all. We know that many more people will still become ill from this virus, and many will sadly pass.

Disabled Facilities Grants for Individuals

What are Disabled Facilities Grants?

There is a range of options available which may make you and/or your carer's everyday life much easier and safer.  A Disabled Facilities Grant is funding to help a disabled person adapt their home to make it easier and safer to live in.  The works must be necessary and appropriate.  This will need to be discussed between the disabled person and an Occupational Therapist or Trusted Assessor.  It must also be reasonable and practicable to carry out the works - this often depends on the age, condition and layout of the property.
