Community transport may face extra licence requirements

A letter from the Department for Transport suggests providers may require a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operator licence. This may affect some community transport providers bidding for local authority bus service contracts. The letter was sent to the Community Transport Association, whose chief executive Bill Freeman described it was "not the news that any of us wanted".

Multi-million Dementia centre being built in Burton 'continuing at pace'

The work on the multi-million pound dementia centre that is being built on the site of the Margaret Stanhope Centre in Outwoods, Burton has been described as continuing at pace.

The Burton dementia centre of excellence is planning to give their residents home-like accommodation while they receive care and support through their journey with the condition.

The centre is set to include space for family gatherings, room to keep pets and include communal areas and facilities such as a café and hairdressers.

Uttoxeter mental health report stance branded 'ridiculous' by worker from support charity

A council has been branded "ridiculous" for criticising mental health provision in town – a year after its funding cuts contributed to the closure of a Uttoxeter psychiatric charity.

A recent East Staffordshire Borough Council report found that people in Uttoxeter had "relatively little access" to mental health services.

In July 2016 Art and Soul had to close its doors when it could no longer access funding from the authority.
