COMING SOON! CARERS CAFE
Fri 8 Feb 2019
Family members or friends who support someone with a disability or long term health condition will soon be able to benefit from a new Carers Café in Wombourne facilitated by CASS The Carers Association. The Carers Café will launch on Wednesday 13th of March 2019 at the Civic Centre in Wombourne, Gravel Hill, Wolverhampton, Wombourne, West Midlands WV5 9HA from 10:30am until 12:30pm.
CASS is aiming to expand their current service to support family Carers living in the area by delivering a variety of information, advice and activity sessions. Carers are invited to take the opportunity to make new friends, talk to health and community care professionals and gain essential information to support their role as a Carer.
The Staffordshire based charity already runs bustling Carers Cafés in Penkridge, Tamworth and Eccleshall and has seen carers develop new skills and friendships due to the support they receive from the groups. This new café provides the opportunity for carers to gain support tailored to their needs at the right pace and the right time. This in turn will support the person they are caring for to continue to live well at home.
Karen Leighton, Chief Operating Officer at CASS The Carers Association commented that “CASS The Carers Association are extremely proud to support all Carers in Staffordshire and are excited to open a new Carers Café in Wombourne. CASS The Carers Association recognises the needs and challenges when supporting someone to continue to live at home. We have a wealth of experience in providing bite sized information and advice sessions for family Carers and friends to increase their knowledge and to remember to look after themselves too. The groups are designed to encourage sharing of skills and experiences but also fun, as laughter is the best medicine”.
After the launch event the Carers Café will be held at Wombourne Civic Centre on the second Wednesday of every month between 10:30am and 12:30pm. There is no charge to attend, but there is a donation box should people wish to contribute on the day.
