Chief Executive's Comment on Health - February 2016
Mon 29 Feb 2016
As regular readers will be aware, I have been pressing for some time now for greater engagement and representation for the VCSE sector at some of the countywide health structures, especially the Health and Wellbeing Board. Although we have made little progress I wanted to update you that I have pushed for a letter from the Staffordshire Voice Chief Officers Group. Again proposing representation and a mechanism for achieving it. The Voice Group is coordinated by VAST and Chaired by Nick Maslen of Age UK South Staffordshire. I will keep you posted on the outcome.
The countywide Commissioning Congress has been focussed mainly on governance and is now turning to its work streams, again ourselves and partners have pressed for involvement, and this has been welcomed. Engagement with the various work streams is being coordinated through Dave Benge at VAST: firstname.lastname@example.org; who you can contact if you are eager to get involved.
Finally, Virgin Health in East Staffordshire; see our Latest News section for further information, but I would strongly encourage organisations to get involved now through the expression of interest opportunity – think of it as an application form with no prescribed structure – say whatever you want and sell yourselves. For the more sceptical amongst you, I would say this – you can always pull out later, but you will struggle to get involved later if you change your mind. Let’s show Virgin Health what we can do and play a significant role in the new way of working in East Staffs.
