THE ORGANISATION

CASS The Carers Association is a long standing and respected registered charity and a company limited by guarantee providing advice information and support to family members and friends (Carers) who may support a person, of any age, living with a long-term health condition or disability residing within southern Staffordshire. Carers of all ages turn to us at key moments or challenging times in their lives.

CASS works towards improving public understanding of the impact caring for someone can have on a person’s life, at any age, including financial, social, educational and psychological implications.

We work closely with businesses, the local authority and other third sector organisations to deliver a service that is meaningful and sustainable for the people we support.

WHY WE NEED YOU

 

  • To work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the Finance and Quality Officer to ensure the Organisations affairs, its financial viability and financial records and procedures are maintained to the highest standard.

  • Ensure that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.

  • To contribute actively to the board of Trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy and evaluating performance against agreed targets and outcomes.

WHEN AND WHERE

  • To have contact on a monthly basis with the Chief Operating Officer and / or The Finance and Quality Officer (this may be face to face, email or telephone)

  • To attend The Executive Committee on a quarterly basis (other meetings of the Board may be called in exceptional circumstances).

SUPPORT

  • Full induction with Chairperson of The Board of Directors and the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Various training courses relevant to the role will be offered as appropriate to need.
  • Travel Expenses.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

CASS Board of Trustees are volunteers and come from a variety of backgrounds. Some Trustees may also be Carers or former Carers themselves and some may have little experience of a caring role. What we do ask is that all Trustees have a commitment to the support and well-being of the people we support. The Board of Trustees (known as the Executive Committee) is responsible for the control and management of the administration of the charity and for its strategic direction.

As a charitable company, Trustees are also Company Directors and must comply with the legal requirements relating to Company Directors.

Candidates will be required to complete a Trustee Declaration (fit and proper persons declaration) if appointed following interview.

Trustees are co-opted to the board for the first 12 months to ensure the appointment to the board is suitable for all concerned.
