Canoe Foundation grant funding
Wed 17 Jul 2019
Grants for clubs, community groups and regions across the UK with an active interest in wider canoeing participation.
The principle functions of the Canoe Foundation are to raise money; inform and educate; and allocate funds, in line with its main purpose to “support all to enjoy and benefit from the experience of paddling on our water in a sustainable manner”. The Foundation does this through grant making that facilitates improvements to suitable landing and launching points and by promoting the conservation of inland waterways for the benefit of all sectors of the community.
The funding is for projects that will improve accessibility to waterways and facilities thereby enabling greater use of them. There is particular interest in enabling enhanced participation in paddle sports for all people.
The funding is intended for the following purposes:
New or improved launching points in urban or rural locations or as part of a water trail, such as steps or pontoons. Linked promotion of access points including signage or maps to increase participation and use.
Incorporating better accessibility or facilities at waterside locations which might improve the parking or changing aspects of a site.
Improving the quality of the waterways and oceans through support, for example practical kits, for a clean-up or an improved natural habitat.
For the years 2018/19 the focus is on smaller tactical level projects. These can be new facilities or repairs to existing installations that have deteriorated over time or by an “act of god”.
Grants of between £2,000 and £20,000 are available.
Larger projects will be considered on a case by case basis.
