Agenda Items Required for Staffordshire Families Strategic Partnership Board

The next meeting of the recently formed Staffordshire Families Strategic Partnership Board is due towards the end of April and a request has been made for agenda items.

For those of you not familiar with the partnership it is a multi–agency group that reports into the Health & Wellbeing Board. Its focus is on families rather than simply children and young people in recognition of the integral link between the two.

A paper that was presented to the Health & Wellbeing Board in March is attached which gives a full explanation of the remit of the Board.

Funding Available from Tesco of up to £12,000 for Community Projects

TESCO are inviting local community groups and good causes to apply for their share of a £12MILLION carrier bag charge fund.

The supermarket teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative, which sees grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to environmental and greenspace projects.

Millions of shoppers voted in stores up and down the country for the last round of funding – with over £11.5MILLION being awarded to winning projects.

'How the UK Parliament Works' - Free Event (Venue: Derby)

Public participation with Parliament is crucial, providing valuable evidence and real-life stories to inform the work of MPs and Members of the House of Lords. This free "Understanding Parliament" event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the UK Parliament and how to get involved.

The event opens with an overview of Parliament’s work by Clare Mullin, UK Parliament Community Engagement Officer for the East Midlands. Additional speakers will focus on law-making and committee work in more depth.

UK Parliament Outreach & Engagement Service: Free Conferences on Influencing Their Democracy

The UK Parliament Outreach and Engagement Service is inviting community groups, voluntary sector organisations and campaign groups around the UK to attend a series of free conferences on how to effectively influence their democracy.

Parliament is keen to demonstrate how charities and campaign groups can communicate their messages, and diversify the voices and stories heard by Parliamentarians.

Applications Welcomed for the ​Staffordshire Local Community Fund

The aim of this scheme is to respond to locally identified needs in a flexible way. Each county councillor in Staffordshire has £7,500 to spend on community projects in their area. So if you are looking for funding for a community project then you can apply for money to make your community ideas a reality.

European Funding Update - April 2016

The outcome of the bids for Building Better Opportunities should now be known by the end of April. This is likely to mean a delay to stage 2 applications until November with delivery on the ground for the successful provider in December at the very earliest. All those involved in the Team Staffordshire applications will be notified directly when there is any news.

The government is seeking feedback on a draft enabling regulations on converting to Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIO).

In 2013, the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) was introduced as a new legal structure to meet the needs of small charities in England and Wales. Since then it has proved popular with over 6,500 new CIOs registered by the Charity Commission.
