Participation Invited in Staffordshire Social Action & Community Capacity Initiative

Announcement from Staffordshire County Council:-

Following the Social Action and Community Capacity workshop on Tuesday 1 March we are starting a joint conversation about how we can work together to enable social action and develop community capacity in Staffordshire. The energy, enthusiasm and creativity in the room were evident for all to see.

The discussions at the workshop highlighted some key points that for me are critical:

The England Illegal Money Lending Team, working in partnership with Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Police, executed warrants at two addresses, seizing documentation and cash.

The suspects were taken into custody and questioned by officers from the Team.

Local People Needed for West Midlands Mental Health Commission

The emerging West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Mental Health Commission is working hard to understand the impact poor mental health and wellbeing has on public services.

Local community and voluntary groups are asked to "hold the date" for a free event on 12th April 2016 in Birmingham (timings and venue to be confirmed) at which they can find out more about how to engage with the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Chief Executive's Comment - March 2016

Myopia and Hypocrisy in East Staffordshire

Many will be aware that in mid-February East Staffordshire Borough Council Leader, Richard Grosvenor took the devastating decision to bring to an end decades of Grant Funding to local charities and community groups. In a poorly veiled move to save public money whilst keeping his election pledge to freeze council tax and make local parking free after 3pm, the council leader slashed all £366,000 from the voluntary sector budget line for the foreseeable future (£180,000 of which helps make the parking free by the way).
