This FREE workshop aims to equip you with the tools, training and skills you need and identifies a wide range of support and signposting to local people to help them live healthy, safe and independent lives.

Search begins for panel members to help transform health and care across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent

The search has begun for volunteers to form a new People’s Panel that will provide views and advice on plans to transform health and care services from the comfort of their own homes.

The panel will play an active role in helping improve services and will consist of people who will represent a cross-section of local communities.

We are kicking off the new year as we mean to go on with a positive celebration of our sector – the 2020 Support Staffordshire Volunteer Star Awards are here and nominations are now open. There are a range of categories in which to nominate your local unsung hero and we will be holding special awards events in June, across the county, with 8 events in total. For the full visit the awards pages of our website. We are already looking forward to reading your wonderful stories of local giving.

Described by a previous host as ‘our own mini Pride of Britain Awards’ these events aim to publicly recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements and commitment of volunteers and organisations who go the extra mile to support our communities.

Tesco Bags of Help programme opens for 2020

Grants are available to support a wide range of community groups, organisations, charities, schools and other not-for-profit organisations with capital improvement projects for local community greenspaces in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Three community projects in each local area will be voted on by customers in Tesco stores throughout the UK, with projects changing every three months (prior to 2020 it was every other month).

Following the vote, grants will be awarded as follows:

First place - up to £2,000.

Second place - up to £1,000.
