Holiday Grants for Children

The Henry Smith's Charity has announced that Holiday Grant for Children Programme is due to re-open for applications on 1 July 2016.

Schools, youth groups and not for profit organisations can apply for grants towards holidays or outings within the UK for children aged 13 and under who are from deprived areas or have a disability. Applications can be considered for holidays or outings that have the objective of providing children with a break they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.

Commissioner’s People Power Fund – Now Open for Applications

Great ideas for community safety solutions come from local people – which is why Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis is inviting groups in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to bid for money from the Commissioner’s People Power Fund.

The fund empowers local groups to find solutions to community safety problems through offering smaller grants of between £100 and £3,000.

Arts Council England - NEW Celebrating Age Funding Programme

The 'Celebrating Age' programme is all about supporting cultural spaces and other organisations to be open, positive and welcoming places for older people; and taking high quality arts and culture into places where older people will find it easier to engage.

The programme will support cultural spaces and other organisations working collaboratively, in a partnership or as a consortium, to do one or more of the following:

Dehydration & Sunburn: The Big Dangers as Temperatures Forecast to Top 30 Degrees

People across South Staffordshire are being urged to look after each other in the hot weather, with temperatures forecast to possibly top 30 degrees centigrade this week.

The main health risks include dehydration and sunburn. Older people and infants are particularly vulnerable to becoming dehydrated, while children are particularly at risk of sunburn.

Each year people are admitted to hospitals with symptoms of sickness and diarrhoea, severe headaches, and confusion, often due to not drinking enough fluid during warmer weather.

New Morrisons Foundation Grants

Grants are available to registered charities for new projects which directly improve the lives of local people or communities, especially those that are vulnerable or disadvantaged, in England, Scotland or Wales.

The Foundation is offering grants (£20,000 max) to help get new projects off the ground that will benefit the local community.

The funding is for specific projects which make a difference to people’s lives, with special consideration for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
