April sees Support Staffordshire enter its 6th year in operation. So, in late March we celebrated with our 5th birthday party; more of which below!
A leading Staffordshire membership and umbrella body for the voluntary sector is celebrating its 5th birthday in style after announcing it has secured more than £10m of inward investment over the same period – all going towards boosting local communities.
Support Staffordshire, which has assisted more than 1000 charities and organisations since it was formed, marked ‘helping its members to be the best they can be’ at a special anniversary party at Stafford Gatehouse.
As part of a new contract, SCVYS has been asked to undertake research around Community Safety and Knife Crime (Youth Violence). Specifically, we are interested in knife crime and whether this is a growing issue around the county.
Taking part in the survey is completely confidential and anonymous. We only ask for age and postcode to enable comparisons between different areas in the county and different age groups.
Staffordshire Day is fast approaching, but have no fear – it’s not too late to join the celebrations!
The big day, Wednesday 1st May, is now less than three weeks away, but Enjoy Staffordshire are still looking for voluntary organisations to host fundraisers and shout about the county on social media.
They have written The Great Big Staffordshire Quiz and can supply quiz sheets and posters to help you promote your evening – as well as including your event in the Staffordshire Day listings on their website and promoting it on social media.
Unprecedented level of expertise as 13 national umbrella bodies and organisations join forces to help facilitate safeguarding improvement
A comprehensive suite of free safeguarding tools and advice will soon be available to the voluntary sector following the award of £570,000 by the National Lottery Community Fund to the Safer Social Sector Partnership.
Now open to Staffordshire residents

It is a platform for communities to share, it is also a tool for businesses to not only reach out to their target audience, but also to connect with those hard to reach audiences.
BabaBaboon acts as a guide to show what is great – all in one place!
Voluntary and community groups are able to promote and host details of their events and activities on the Baba website for FREE
AEDdonate are in the process of launching a new ambitious local campaign called Staffordshire1000 on 1/5/19 in Staffordshire, which coincides with Staffordshire Day.
The campaign is to boost the number of community access defibrillators in Staffordshire and increase community awareness of the locations and knowledge of what to do in a cardiac arrest emergency. Aspirationally we would like to get an additional 1000 defibs installed in the communities of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent, and support from Support Staffordshire Members would be hugely beneficial in our goal.
