The UK is set to leave the European Union on 31 October 2019. The National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) have produced guidance and resources to help your organisation understand, and prepare for, the possible impact of Brexit.

In September 2019 NCVO published No-deal Brexit and the voluntary sector: Preparing for change. This new guidance sets out the potential implications of a no-deal Brexit for charities, and suggests practical steps organisations can take to reduce the risks. It includes:

Local Charities led by Support Staffordshire write open letter to MPs on austerity

A group of influential local charities have written an open letter to MPs asking them to recognise the serious impacts of ongoing austerity on local services across both the voluntary sector and local statutory providers. The letter penned by Garry Jones, Chief Executive of Support Staffordshire is written with the support of other members of Team Staffordshire, a local representative body for the voluntary sector.

SOME EXCITING NEWS ABOUT SASSOT’S FUTURE…

SASSOT’s Board recently met to discuss SASSOT’s long term future and its legal status as a body hosted by Stafford Borough Council (SBC).

Following careful deliberation, the decision was taken that SASSOT will transition to an independent charitable body during 2020.

This decision means the Board can plan for a more sustainable future and to capitalise on the many exciting opportunities independence presents.
