In the past year (June 2018 to July 2019), Cannock Chase, East Staffordshire, South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula and Stafford and Surrounds Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) prescribed 16,023 prescriptions for gluten-free foods at a cost of more than a quarter of a million pounds. The prescription of gluten-free (GF) products is not a cure for coeliac disease, nor does it treat the symptoms. Medical advice given to patients who are gluten intolerant would be to avoid food products containing gluten.

The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) are warning people not to turn to loan sharks to cover the cost of Christmas.
These unlicensed lenders charge extortionate amounts of interest and have been known to use threatening language, intimidation and even violence when demanding payments from their desperate victims.
Using the hashtag #StopLoanSharksXMAS this year’s online campaign is providing the public with useful information and advice to ensure they stay safe and don’t fall victim to unscrupulous lenders.

A message from Talent Match Staffordshire December 2019
It is with great sadness that we inform you that Talent Match Staffordshire will cease operations on 20th December 2019. Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to secure additional funding to sustain the project.
We would like to thank all our truly extraordinary and exceptional staff, volunteers, partner agencies, charities, Trustees and friends who supported Talent Match Staffordshire’s vision over the last 6 years.
What a week, and whoever you voted for, I expect we are all glad that politics is somewhat off the table for Christmas.
Congratulations to all our local Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent MPS, especially those new to role, and I would give a special well done to Kate Griffiths MP for Burton, who has been a great local supporter of the voluntary sector over the last five years, regularly supporting our Volunteer Star Awards – we hope you’ll continue to be an advocate for the sector.
I have heard mentioned, just once or twice before, that Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year.
