Community Asset Transfer Workshop – 29 September 2016

The workshop planned for June has been postponed until September so there is another chance to book a place. Support Staffordshire, in partnership with Urban Vision North Staffordshire and Staffordshire Rural Forum, is holding this half day workshop for those considering, or involved in, taking on a community asset (any building of importance to the local community such as a youth centre or local pub).

The Contribution Women Make to a Safer Community Conference

‘The Contribution Women Make to a Safer Community’ will shine a light on the inspirational work being carried out by women and its impact on people’s lives.

Presented by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, this free event will also look at the diverse ways women work, the obstacles they may face and the coping mechanisms they utilise.

A mix of inspirational speakers and interactive workshops will deliver a thought-provoking day for women and men alike.

Speakers include:-

Funding Available to Support Disadvantaged Young People

The Weaver's Company Benevolent Fund supports projects working with disadvantaged young people (aged 5 to 30 years) to ensure that they are given every possible chance to meet their full potential and to participate fully in society. The Fund also aims to help young people at risk of criminal involvement to stay out of trouble and assist in the rehabilitation of offenders, particularly young offenders both in prison and after release.

Funding Available to Support Family Based Projects

The Kelly Family Charitable Trust is open to applications from registered charities for projects that support and encourage the family to work as a cohesive unit in tackling problems that face one or more of its members. The overall objective is to reinforce the potential benefit and support that family members as a unit can give to each other. The fund also welcomes applications from sports and health-related charities whose activities comply with the above criteria. Grants are of between £1,000 and £5,000, but higher grants may be considered.
