Friends Against Scams

National Trading Standards (NTS) Scams Team launched a new initiative last week called Businesses Against Scams (BAS).

It is a simple toolkit that businesses can use to help train their employees on how to spot certain types of scams that are more prevalent within businesses due to the current pandemic sweeping the UK. 

The initiative provides free online training modules that will help staff identify and prevent potential scams.

Update from Your Library Service - 6 May 2020

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak all Libraries in Staffordshire remain closed, and our service, with the exception of our online offer, remains suspended until further notice.

We are continuing to offer and develop our online service, eLibrary and resources and are active on social media so there are lots of ways to use the library from home!

Youth Endowment Fund COVID-19 Grant Round

The Youth Endowment Fund launches new £6.5m COVID-19 grant round to support vulnerable children at risk of youth violence.

Social distancing and stay-at-home measures have seen access to schools restricted and the provision of youth services dramatically reduced. The result is that some of our most vulnerable children have both lost the support they relied on and become increasingly invisible.

South Staffs Water introduce temporary tariff of Assure scheme for people affected by Covid-19 outbreak

South Staffs Water has introduced a temporary tariff of the Assure scheme for people affected by the Covid-19 outbreak (to identify this from Assure this is called Covid-19 Assure tariff) and who now find themselves on a low income as a result.

This is a temporary tariff providing a discount of 60% for 3 months and applicants can apply up to and including the 30th June 2020.

Power to Change launches up to £12 million of emergency support

Power to Change, the independent trust that supports community businesses in England, is launching up to £12 million of emergency support to provide both immediate and medium-term help for community businesses facing a loss of trading income during the coronavirus crisis.

The crisis has highlighted the vital role that community businesses play in reviving local assets, protecting the services that people rely on, and addressing local needs.
