Housing, tenants and residents groups
Support Staffordshire work with a number of Housing Organisations and Residents Groups in Staffordshire.
Traditionally social housing providers' main business was being a landlord (keeping homes in good condition and enforcing tenancy conditions). More recently housing organisations have become more involved in investing in the wider community.
Here are some of our members to give you an idea of the sorts of groups we support
How we work with groups
You may have a Tenants Board that needs support with governance, or wish to recruit volunteers to deliver projects in your community.
If you are a Housing Organisation, or a Tenants or Residents Group and you would like to find out how Support Staffordshire can support you, please get in touch.
Support Staffordshire has worked with Stafford & Rural Homes on a number of projects. We have attended their work club to provide information about volunteering, and opportunities for their residents.
In Staffordshire Moorlands we work with Your Housing to jointly run three work clubs in Cheadle, Leek and Biddulph which successfully assist people into employment.
The statutory responsibility for housing provision sits at district and borough council level. Current topics and issues are therefore most likely to be addressed at local partnership boards in each district. In Tamworth and Cannock Chase the local authorities retain ownership of a significant housing stock and are likely to have greater involvement in housing related matters. See your local office for details of local boards and forums.
