An introductory session for new trustees or those who wish to refresh their skills. This workshop will cover the basics to enable you to govern more effectively and understand the responsibilities you have. Topics include:

  • Trustee duties

  • Role descriptions

  • Organisation structures

  • Governing documents

  • Leading effective meetings

  • Dealing with problems

Tutor: Esther Bromley of Support Staffordshire

Esther has worked in the voluntary sector for a number of years as a Project Officer, Volunteering Officer, Training Officer and Development Officer and now leads a team in the Cannock Chase District. She has successfully assisted groups and organisations with funding applications and has advised on organisational development, policies and procedures. She has been an 'Investing in Volunteers' advisor for 3 years, a national award that is designed to assess and recognise excellent volunteer management practices.
