THE RIGHT START: Involving Volunteers

This session is aimed at both paid staff or volunteers who support other volunteers within their organisation.

Description:

How much value do you place on your volunteers? Volunteers are the backbone of many community organisations without whom many groups would not exist. This session is a great place to start learning best practice in recruiting, supporting and retaining volunteers. The session will cover:-

  • Why people volunteer and the importance of motivation

  • Volunteer policy - what does good look like?

  • Recruitment - writing good role descriptions to recruit effectively

  • Supporting volunteers

  • Retention of volunteers - reward and recognition


Tutor: Esther Bromley of Support Staffordshire

Esther has worked in the voluntary sector for a number of years as a Project Officer, Volunteering Officer, Training Officer and Development Officer, a Team Leader and is now Support Staffordshire's Development Consultancy Manager. She has successfully assisted groups and organisations with funding applications and has advised on organisational development, policies and procedures. She has been an 'Investing in Volunteers' advisor for 3 years, a national award that is designed to assess and recognise excellent volunteer management practices.


This training is funded by Staffordshire County Council. To access this session for FREE you must be a member of Support Staffordshire or Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services. We reserve the right to charge you for your ticket if you are not a member.

Free places are restricted to two per organisation for this session.

**Members failure to attend without prior cancellation will result in you being charged the standard half day member rate of £45**
