This course is suitable for anyone who supports children and young people in an outdoor, activity or leisure setting.

Learning outcomes of the course include:

  • Understanding the reasons why individuals or groups might present problematic behaviours
  • Understanding how communication, social, emotional, learning and mental health issues can affect behaviour
  • Measures to put in place to support children with challenging behaviour.

About the tutor; Honor Coombs is an experienced teacher of special educational needs and disabilities, having taught within both mainstream and special schools. She started her career in the outdoor sector, working as a teacher of Outdoor Education in a Wiltshire secondary school before moving into work in Outdoor Education Centres in Scotland and NW England. Honor is passionate about removing barriers and enabling all young people to access outdoor and adventurous activities.
