Tamworth Self Isolation Support Project
Support Staffordshire coordinated a partnership bid to the National Lottery Community Fund with nine other organisations, the lead partner being Community Together CIC.
As a partnership application funding worth £99,046.96 has been allocated to various local community groups and charities to help fund a whole host of support and activities. This is across areas such as mental health and wellbeing, isolation, bereavement, food poverty, homelessness, debt advice, learning and skills, training for volunteers and Information, Advice and Guidance for the VCSE sector.
The funding will help continue the helpline which is at the centre as it helps enable people to get what they need, whether that be food deliveries, help with benefits advice, picking up prescriptions or befriending.
The partnership bid recognises the value of the whole community coming together and will enable us all to move forward together, with the support of Tamworth Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council. The funding secured will be delivered by nine different organisations and will pay for activities that will be vital for the most vulnerable in the community as we continue to deal with the fallout from the pandemic.
Support Staffordshire specifically will be using the funding to give extra support, IAG to groups in Tamworth; to help place volunteers that have come forward; to identify needs of organisations and groups; to deliver covid risk assessment training; to deliver mental health awareness training and to administer a funding pot of £14,500 for local groups
The Covid 19 Tamworth Voluntary Organisation Support Fund will help to fund community activities or services to continue during the Coronavirus (Covid 19) crisis. We are interested in applications for items that will help you to continue to function for the next six months, e.g. room hire, volunteer expenses, PPE, training. This scheme covers organisations within the geographical area of Tamworth Borough Council.
This grant scheme is administered by Support Staffordshire who can answer any questions and give assistance and/or advice to potential applicants to ensure the best possible outcome. The grant panel is made up of a representative from Support Staffordshire (Tamworth), Tamworth Borough Council and Community Together CIC, ensuring local knowledge of the local area and its needs.
